Athlete Mental Health

Athletes can face pressure from training, coaches, practice, competition, travel, homework, class, friendships, missing home…the list is endless. It’s no surprise, then, that thousands of student-athletes told the NCAA they feel mentally exhausted “constantly” or “most every day.”

Mental health helps athletes achieve peak performance, and people in the world of sport are starting to recognize the importance of mental health and emotional well-being.

On this site, you will find resources about mental health and sport. The information comes from research conducted with student-athletes from universities in the United States. There is also information from the U.S. National Institute of Mental Health and other organizations.

We hope the information will be helpful on (and off) the field of competition.
